How to sell on eBay

eBay is one of the largest and most established marketplaces in the world, with deep reach across Europe and strong demand for almost every category — from fashion and sneakers to electronics and collectibles.

Europe-first, worldwide-ready: Relistly is built around European currencies, sizing and languages — and it also crossposts to worldwide marketplaces, so sellers outside Europe can use it too.

How to start selling on eBay

1

Create a seller account

Register, set up your payout details and, if you sell regularly, consider a business account and eBay Store.

2

List with accurate item specifics

Fill in brand, size, model and condition. Complete item specifics are what make listings findable on eBay.

3

Choose auction or fixed price

Use fixed price for predictable value; use auctions for rare or high-demand items where competition drives price up.

4

Set shipping and returns

Offer clear shipping options and a returns policy — both influence buyer confidence and search placement.

5

Optimise the title

Use the full title length with the words buyers search, avoiding filler and gimmicks.

6

Publish, then manage

Monitor watchers and offers, and consider Promoted Listings to boost visibility on competitive items.

eBay selling fees

There is no single worldwide eBay fee — it depends on the eBay site your account is registered on. On eBay.nl, most private sellers pay about 11% + €0.35 per order (11% up to €1,990, 2% above, plus a small per-order fee and a 0.42% regulatory fee), with the first 150 listings each month free. Private-seller figures include Dutch VAT.

Category exceptions apply. Figures are as of 2026 — confirm current rates for your site and category.

Sell on more than eBay — without doing it all twice

Most successful resellers do not stop at one app. The same item can sell faster when it is visible on several marketplaces at once — the challenge is not rebuilding every listing by hand.

Relistly lets you keep one central inventory and publish each product to eBay and the other marketplaces you sell on. When an item sells, matching listings can be removed from your other channels automatically.
